Synology brand is famous for the NAS storage devices but yes they also provide Wifi network devices to the internet users. Here we have described all the steps to complete the Synology router setup easily.
That’s it — your Synology router setup is ready to run. Use the DSM mobile app if you want to monitor or tweak settings from your phone.
Make sure the internet cable is firmly connected to the WAN port. Power on the router and wait until the LED turns solid blue. A blinking orange light often means it’s still starting up.
If you’re setting up via Wi-Fi, connect to the router’s default SSID printed on its label. For faster setup, use a wired connection to your computer’s LAN port.
Open a browser and go to http://router.synology.com or use the default IP 192.168.1.1. If it doesn’t load, clear DNS cache or try another browser.
If the router won’t respond, press and hold the reset button for about 8–10 seconds until the LED blinks. Then rerun the QuickConnect or SRM setup.
Outdated firmware often causes setup issues. Log in to Synology Router Manager (SRM) and check for updates under Control Panel > System > Update & Restore.
If your modem or another router uses the same IP range (like 192.168.1.x), it may block setup. Change the Synology router’s LAN IP in SRM to another range, say 10.0.0.x.
Go to Network Center > Internet > Connection. Confirm your ISP details (Dynamic, PPPoE, or Static). Re-enter credentials if needed and apply settings.
Adjust channels in Wi-Fi Settings. Use separate SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Avoid interference by keeping the router away from walls and appliances.
